Miami Perez Art Museum

If you are an architect hanging out in Miami this is undoubtedly one of the pieces that you should see!

In this episode I will speak about one of the contemporary “brand” architecture that can be found in Miami, the Perez Museum. Located in a privileged place in the waterfront and next to other great landmarks of the city such as American Airlines Arena or Miami Science Museum, was designed by Herzog & de Meuron and opened in 2013.

For me was a pleasure to find natural materials and honest use of concrete in almost every part of the building. Actually even some of the curtain wall framework is made out of precast concrete pieces. The relation between interior and exterior space takes place across semi covered spaces with hanging vertical vegetal pieces and you can relax in one of the multiple spaces with seats. Even the necessary parking (something unavoidable in USA) is not just a regular basement but something very interesting and difficult to say if it is an interior or exterior space, where they brought the natural concept to the latest consequences.

The interior collection in my opinion has parts that are a lot more interesting than others but I would highlight the writing machine art room, don’t miss it.

If you are an architect hanging out in Miami this is undoubtedly one of the pieces that you should see!
