Gensler has unveiled renderings for Thistle Data Center Campus, a large-scale data centre in Arizona developed for Menlo Digital. The project will occupy the former site of a call centre and will consist of five buildings with a capacity of between 36 and 72 megawatts, set across a campus of more than 90,000 square metres.
The proposal aims to go beyond purely technological infrastructure. With a facade of weathering steel, textured concrete and glazed entrance areas, the studio envisions a building that can better integrate into Arizona’s arid landscape while bringing a more considered urban presence to an industrial area currently dominated by surface parking.
