The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art nears completion in Los Angeles

New photographs of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles show the exterior cladding nearly complete, bringing the project closer to its planned opening in September 2026. The building, located in Exposition Park, was designed by Ma Yansong and MAD Architects, with Stantec as the executive architect and MLA-Studio in charge of the landscape design for the ten-hectare site. The images released show the 300,000-square-foot (27,871-square-meter) structure with an almost complete exterior and an increasingly defined presence in the urban landscape.

The museum’s curved envelope, made of fiberglass-reinforced polymer panels, offers a futuristic appearance that the institution describes as an organic and evocative sculptural form. The building cantilevers over its concrete podium, incorporates a large central arch connecting a semi-enclosed plaza, and culminates in an oculus visible from the roof, where a green roof and photovoltaic panels coexist. With these advances, the project is moving toward the final phase before its opening to the public next fall.
