Hello everyone!
I couldn’t be more thrilled to be writing my very first blog post, marking the beginning of an incredible new chapter in my life, an amazing adventure that’s taking me all the way to the USA!
But before diving into the details, let me quickly introduce myself. I’ve just completed my Bachelor of Architecture at the Free University of Brussels in Belgium. After years of intense academic work, I decided to take a gap year before starting my Master’s degree. I wanted to gain some hands-on, real-world experience in the field to get a real taste of what it means to be an architect beyond the classroom walls.
So, the hunt for the perfect internship began. After a few weeks of active searching, I was incredibly lucky to land a meeting with Morphosis Architects in Los Angeles. The meeting went better than I could have imagined, and everything just clicked. It felt like the perfect fit professionally, creatively, and personally. A few days later, I received an official offer letter from them! I was over the moon, it felt like a dream come true!
Of course, once the excitement settled in a bit, the reality of paperwork kicked in, I needed a J-1 visa to make this all happen. That’s when US-Architects came into the picture, and they were a great help from start to finish. Recommended by my future firm, they stepped in and helped me navigate the whole visa process, which can honestly feel overwhelming and complicated. From gathering the necessary documents to walking me through each step, they made everything feel so much more manageable and clear.
A special shoutout goes to Georgiana, who was in charge of my application, she was so helpful, responsive, and reassuring throughout the whole process. The only hiccup I ran into was the long wait time to get a visa appointment at the embassy, but thankfully, my emergency request was approved, and everything moved quickly after that. Just a few days after my appointment, my visa was approved and in my hands!
I can’t wait to learn, grow, and gain invaluable experience in my field, all while exploring the magic of Los Angeles. I know this year will be full of personal and professional growth, new connections, and unforgettable memories !
