The iconic Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York, transformed by SOM

The rebirth of an icon in the heart of Manhattan. After eight years of conservation and restoration, the legendary Waldorf Astoria reopens its doors. SOM has carried out a renovation that respects the Art Deco essence of the 1931 building while projecting it into the future. The result: a space that combines 375 hotel rooms and 372 private residences, restoring the original splendor of one of New York’s most iconic hotels.
