The Bentonville Angular Medical School, completed by Polk Stanley Wilcox

The new Alice L. Walton School of Medicine in Arkansas, designed by Polk Stanley Wilcox, stands out for its angular glass façade and a color palette inspired by the Ozark Mountains. Located on the Crystal Bridges Museum campus, the building is part of an ambitious project that merges health and art, spearheaded by Alice Walton. With four floors, a landscaped roof designed by OSD, and a structure that emulates the local geology, the design seeks to integrate visually and conceptually with the natural landscape.

The building’s glass volume folds inward with a cantilever that protects the main entrance, while the brass and concrete cladding evokes the region’s limestone cliffs. At the rear, the building is divided into two wings that frame a semi-enclosed courtyard, one of which slopes gently down to the ground, topped by a park accessible from the roof.
