My Experience with the J1 Visa Process

Hi! I’m Jimena, an architect from Peru. When I was offered a job opportunity in the United States, I was excited but also nervous about the J-1 visa process. It was unfamiliar territory, and I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Joining Architect-US’s J-1 Visa Program made a big difference by helping me navigate the requirements with more ease.

Since I already had my job secured, Architect-US’s role was to find a visa sponsor and handle the paperwork. This was a relief, as it ensured everything was done correctly and saved me from unnecessary delays. The early stages of the process required some time, especially gathering the necessary documents, but once everything was in place, things moved quickly and smoothly.

When it came time for the embassy appointment, I was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward it was. The officers asked me a few questions about the program and how I got the job, and the entire process was over within minutes. Architect-US sent some helpful tips beforehand, but I also took the time to prepare on my own, which gave me more confidence during the interview.

One of the things I valued most about Architect-US was how responsive they were whenever I had a question or concern. They were always quick to answer, which made the process much less stressful.

For anyone starting this journey, my advice is to stay patient and organized. It’s important to keep track of deadlines and not hesitate to ask for clarification when you need it. With the right support and preparation, the J-1 visa process is manageable, even if it seems daunting at first.

Now that I’m in the U.S., I’m eager to gain new insights from this experience and apply them to my work in the future.
