The American studio ASAP has carried out an interesting architectural integration project in Buffalo, New York. In the heart of the historic Allentown neighborhood, known for its rich mix of 19th and 20th century architecture, ASAP has transformed a dilapidated commercial building into Allen Apartments, a residential and commercial complex.
The design preserves part of the original building’s century-old brick facade, paying homage to the past while adapting to modern needs. This project not only revitalizes a blighted urban space, but also dialogues with the historic character of the neighborhood, which is home to works by iconic figures such as Eero and Eliel Saarinen and Frederick Law Olmsted.
