My New Jersey decision

Deciding to move to New Jersey to work as an architect was one of the most important and exciting decisions of my life. As an assistant project manager at IAE, my experience in this new environment has been enriching both professionally and personally.

One of the main reasons I chose New Jersey is its proximity to New York City, a global hub of architecture and design. From a young age, I have admired urban landscapes that blend history and modernity, and the metropolitan area of New Jersey offers that architectural richness. Working here provides me with the opportunity to be close to innovative projects and to learn from a highly competitive industry.

Another decisive factor was New Jersey’s cultural diversity. As a Colombian, I have found a cultural mosaic that allows me not only to adapt but also to enrich myself with different perspectives. This diversity is also reflected in architectural projects, which often seek to incorporate elements that celebrate inclusion and plurality.

From a professional standpoint, the construction and architecture sector in New Jersey is very dynamic. This has allowed me to face new challenges, from adapting to local regulations and codes to working with advanced technologies that were not as common in Colombia. My previous experience as a construction site supervisor gave me a solid foundation, but here I have learned to manage projects from a more managerial and strategic perspective. This has not only enriched my professional profile but has also motivated me to keep learning and growing.

Additionally, New Jersey offers an appealing balance between urban life and nature. As a lover of outdoor activities, I have enjoyed exploring its parks, beaches, and hiking trails. This connection with nature has helped me maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life, something I consider essential for success in any career.

I also want to highlight how this experience has allowed me to improve my English proficiency. Working in an environment where this language is essential has motivated me to perfect it, which has been challenging but also very rewarding. Being able to communicate effectively in English has broadened my horizons and given me greater confidence in my professional performance.

In summary, working in New Jersey has been a transformative experience. I have been able to combine my passion for architecture with the opportunity to grow in a challenging and diverse environment. This journey has not only strengthened my career but has also enriched me as a person, allowing me to fulfill dreams that once seemed distant. My decision to come here was guided by a desire for innovation, learning, and cultural connection, and every day I feel more grateful for taking this path in my life.
