A theater lost in a fire in 2020 will be replaced by the Doris Duke Theater. Located in the Jacob’s Pillow dance venue in Massachusetts, Dutch architectural firm Mecanoo has designed a theater that will double the size of the old 789-square-meter building and will feature integrated technology such as infrared body-tracking cameras and robotics.
The building will be constructed with a solid wood and heat-treated pine structure. It will feature a rounded podium on the lower level with a multi-level square volume placed on top and renderings also show a green roof over the base.
