First Month Working In Chicago

Throughout this first month, I’ve had the opportunity to network with the entire office through various events, lunches, and «lunch and learns.» I’ve also participated in numerous activities and projects. I am thrilled to be part of an exciting project that motivates me to contribute my best to the team. I am eager to apply the skills I learned in school. Each day, I am learning new skills, technologies, and software. These experiences are preparing me for graduate studies, future employment, and my career as an architect.

Each day, I learn new skills, technologies, and software that prepare me for graduate studies, future employment, and my career as an architect. One of my favourite activities has been the weekly «lunch and learns» with the firm’s directors. These sessions provide interns with an hour to discuss, socialize, and ask questions to senior staff members. They offer comprehensive and enjoyable insights into the firm, the industry, and the city of Chicago.

I have enjoyed every second of my first month, especially exploring more of the city after work and on weekends. My favorite place to visit during lunch or after work is Millennium Park in Chicago. The beautiful architecture, landscaping, and public features of the park create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. The Pritzker Pavilion, designed by Frank Gehry, is my favorite part of the park. As an architecture student, it’s a dream come true to sit on the grass or in the seats and sketch the steel details I observe. Additionally, «The Bean» has recently reopened, and it was amazing to see it up close.

Overall, my first month at Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture has been both educational and enjoyable, and I look forward to what the future holds. I believe that next month the office is taking the interns to a Chicago Cubs game and I can not wait to attend the event!!!
