Danish architectural firm BIG has submitted its design for the solid wood Makers’ KUbe. in Kansas, USA. The 50,000-square-foot building will serve as an educational center for the School of Architecture and Design at the University of Kansas ( KU ) in Lawrence, Kansas. The project will have a diagrid structure made entirely of wood, a feat achieved by using glulam glued-laminated timber with notches ( glulam ) and dowels based on traditional Japanese carpentry techniques to eliminate the need for fasteners or steel plates.
