Springs Artist Studio receives an extension

Springs Artist Studio, a two-story Long Island home belonging to a florist and a painter, has been expanded by Worrell Yeung Architectural Studio. The 74-square-meter addition aims to preserve the existing trees and minimize the overall impact on the landscape. Boards of different sizes were used «to create a sense of shifting lateral scale that counteracts the vertical mass of the structure.» The lower part of the building is clad with 30-centimeter-wide boards, while the upper areas are clad in 10-centimeter and 2.5-centimeter versions.
