New visualizations have been shared of the planned renovation of the James R Thompson Center, an iconic postmodern-style building in downtown Chicago. Plans for the redesign retain the original rounded shape and 17-story atrium inside, but its glass curtain wall will change, going from the original’s slightly darkened patterned glass to a more uniform and elegant appearance. Last year, technology company Google bought the building from the city and plans to convert it into a hub for its offices and lease additional space.
