A motel will be turned into a shelter for the homeless in LA

A dilapidated motel at The Alvarado will be transformed by Kadre Architects. The project consists of the adaptive reuse of a 1,858 square meter motel into a shelter for the homeless. The four-story building contains 43 units with a total of 172 beds, along with support and office spaces. The ground level has a covered gathering area and support spaces. The top three levels comprise the living units, each of which has bunk beds, a bathroom, a microwave, and a small refrigerator.
