The new net-zero campus, located on Governors Island, New York, will be designed by SOM in partnership with Stony Brook University, a public research institute. The project will serve as an anchor institution for the development of new climate solutions, aiming to become a model of sustainability by implementing energy-positive design strategies such as mass timber construction, on-site solar power generation, and integration and existing structures to achieve a net zero energy campus.
