A new library in the Bronx

A new library has been submitted to be built by Snøhetta in the Bronx. Construction on the new library will begin in the second half of 2023 and will be located next to the historic Huntington Free Library. The building will be two stories high and will have two classrooms, reading rooms, a multi-purpose community space, restrooms, and additional public spaces dedicated to research. Its facades will be glass and the pattern is calibrated to frame the surrounding blocks and filter sunlight as part of a holistic effort to reduce the Library’s energy use.
