STARTING THE ADVENTURE

Hello!

After months of organization, interviews with several firms, a lot of paperwork and a lot of decision making it finally looks like I am traveling to NYC to start my new adventure working there in an international architecture firm.

I still have to interview at the US embassy in Madrid this week and I hope that the visa can arrive as soon as possible and I can meet the deadlines to start in the office in NYC this coming Monday. The timing is a little tight due to a large number of visa applications at this time but I am positive and hope that there is no delay with this and I can travel next weekend.

I fly next Saturday and I have already arranged the apartment where I will be living for the next few months in the Queens area of Long Island City. It seems to be a perfect area, with a lot of life although outside the Manhattan area. The building will also have amenities such as a gym and solarium terrace, tennis courts, etc… I have been lucky. The prices are not too high. It has good views of the Hudson River and Manhattan from the window and has a park right at the foot of the building where you can do a lot of things when the weather is nice. And it only takes 20 minutes by subway to work.

Now the cold months are coming and I probably won’t be able to enjoy the outdoors as much, but I’m sure that once spring comes again, it will be a great experience all around.

I will keep you posted in my next post about my arrival to NYC and first impressions.
