3 months in Florida: Moving, Trips and Homesickness

This past month of April has been intense! Many good things happening at the same time! The consolidation of the move, my parents’ visit to the city I live in, the trips I made to Orlando and Miami on the weekends, and all the other routine issues that also take up our time. I am happy to be able to take advantage of all the opportunities that occur during this experience!

Homesickness

I also confess that it was a month when homesickness was more present. Small habits and customs that remind me of the city I came from somehow make me more nostalgic. I noticed that it is easier now for me to switch from Portuguese to English and vice versa, I think my brain is already adapting better to all the changes.

Miami Trip

In Miami, I found this language relation very curious. The Latin American presence is so strong that there were few moments that I ended up speaking in English there, Spanish was much more used. I visited mainly Miami’s downtown district and to see up close how they conceive the public spaces, with open galleries and interurban parks, was very interesting! Even observing the buildings and how each level proposes a different dialog with the urban environment.

Conclusion

Moments like this make all the difference in both my professional and personal experience. Each day is a discovery and a new opportunity for evolution and learning. For sure, better than I expected. I can’t wait for the next months
