I can’t believe I’ve been in this town for a month already. Now that I’m settled in I can confess how nervous I was. This big change had me scared. New city, new jobs, new experiences…too many changes. From here I can say that everything will be fine! If someone is in the same situation I encourage you to take the step, you will not regret it.
I have walked around the city, getting to know its corners, visiting its viewpoints and buildings. But if I had to single out one thing this month it would be my visit to Farnsworth House. Some friends came to visit me from Spain and it was the perfect opportunity to rent a car to visit the house. It is located in Kendall, this is an hour’s drive from Chicago, so it is necessary to go by private transport. Although I don’t know if there is a bus from the city, if you are interested in going it could be a good option, don’t miss this opportunity.
I am sure that all of us on this blog know the history of this house, built by the famous Mies van der Rohe. The visit consists of an explanation of the history of the house from the design process to the present day and then a tour of it. Contemplating its simplicity and perfection in the details was something impressive. If you like architecture, don’t leave Chicago without going to see it.
We are in spring and with it the good weather begins. This week the city has undergone a radical change and the streets have been filled with life. The terraces are beginning to open, it is a good opportunity to get to know the city. I will tell you about my progress in this city.
