Theme of 2022 Contest

‘Una casa, un estudio, una oficina.

In a natural or urban environment, characterized by a marked identity, it is proposed to project an architecture to live and work.

The location of the project is a personal choice. The chosen place must be identified with a precise character or with a reference element, such as the relationship with the presence of a river, a lake, a certain view, a topography, etc. Or, explore unique urban conditions: the trace of a ruin, an unfinished square, the proximity of a relevant pre-existence, the limit of a historic town or a generic urban outskirts without apparent quality.

The program will consist of a house for a family of 5 people with two adjoining work spaces: an atelier for a young architect with an office for 10 people and a studio for a photographer. Each area will have its own access, must maintain some privacy and may be organized independently or grouped in a single building.

The project must respond in a sensitive and unexpected way to the chosen context, realizing the specific, physical and minimal qualities that characterize it, thus trying to shape a place and not just an architecture.

The proposal will reflect on the intimate conditions of living and the collective conditions of working; with an economical use of constructive means, to give form and meaning to the intermediate spaces: those that mediate between the different programs and those that arise between the architecture and the built or natural landscape.

Everything necessary to understand the project will be summarized in a Pdf panel in horizontal A1 format (72 dpi) and a maximum size of 10 MB. The required graphic information: main images of the project; a planimetry of the environment; most significant plans, sections and elevations; possible perspectives, axonometric views, collages, sketches and photographs of models.

Finally, a synthetic text of 100 words must clearly and precisely explain the design arguments that support the proposal.
