Hello Everyone,
Today I want to share my Thanksgiving experience, but first, let’s start with the meaning of Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in the United States, Canada, some of the Caribbean islands, and Liberia. It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. In my mind, Thanksgiving was just an excuse to eat a lot of turkey and pies.
However, I was really surprised that definitely, this is more than a lot of food. It is the time that families get together after a long time without seeing each other, make vision boards and other series of activities. I heard from a friend that thanksgiving to him is so much more important than Christmas because Christmas has the whole history of the gift and turns out to be much more commercial than the time to be reunited with family.
Here I am very far away from my family, and living in a city where only retirees are not easy, but I met a group of friends so nice, so companions and loving, that even far from my relatives I feel loved and dear. That’s why this date was so special.
During Thanksgiving Thursday I met with these friends, we all brought food and sweets, spent the day playing games and making our vision board. It was very funny. Obviously, on Friday, the famous Black Friday, I took the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping for myself and my family. The prices get a lot better, but I’m not adept at American consumer-style, but it was a fun ride.
Thanksgiving surprised me a lot and it was great to have these days off, I was able to rest and be prepare for the rest of the year. Next month I will complete 12 months in the USA.
