I’m Rodrigo García, an architect from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I graduated from UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires) in December 2025, and just a few months later I was signing up for a program that would take me to New York to work at Brandon Haw Architecture.
Getting there wasn’t a spontaneous decision. Before committing to anything, I spent a long time researching online, comparing different options for going through this kind of experience. What ultimately gave me the confidence to trust the process were the reviews and stories from past participants — reading about other architects who had gone through the same path made the idea feel real and achievable, not just another program among many.
The offer came through Architect-US, after I applied to at Brandon Haw Architecture in New York. That’s the moment everything shifted from research to something real and concrete.
The interview at the embassy was more straightforward than I expected. The questions focused on my training plan and included a look at my social media presence — nothing intimidating, just genuine curiosity about who I am and what I was planning to do.
Now, looking ahead, I’m hoping to pick up new design tools, see what real teamwork looks like inside a firm like this, and get hands-on with the software and processes that actually shape how architecture gets built in the U.S. Coming from a BIM background, I’m especially curious about that intersection between design and technology — how digital tools translate into real decisions on real projects.
This is just the beginning. There’s a lot ahead: adapting to a new city, a new team, a new way of working. I’m looking forward to sharing how it unfolds, month by month.
