Big Bend Roadtrip

One month ago, I’ve been on a great road trip that made this year started in the best way. I consider myself not a big fan of fancy parties and loud bars so that when my boyfriend Giuseppe proposed to go for a road trip in the deep wild Texas for the new year’s eve, I couldn’t be happier.

To make things better, Giuseppe’s sister and her boyfriend decided to fly here from Europe and join us for this amazing trip on the road.

We really wanted this to be a proper American experience so that we couldn’t stop to rent a huge pickup truck and hit the road. Once outside Houston the outland is so vast and there is nothing there for miles and miles. After few hours of driving, we stopped in a small town called Columbus that looks straight out of a postcard. We took some photos and bought hats to make us appear similar to the locals.

We spent the rest of the day driving and we arrived at this amazing place called Marfa at night. With the darkness of the night we didn’t realize where we were until the day after, when, looking out of the window of my bedroom I couldn’t see anything but desert and tumbleweeds.

The small village has been very fascinating. Located in the middle of the Texan’s Outland, hours and hours far from any other city, we found this place full of art installations and amazing and friendly people.

We spent all our days hiking in the canyons and in the desert. Feeling like astronauts on the moon. Waking in the silent, with no human being nearby. We saw the best sunsets and the experienced the most wonderful night sky I’ve ever seen.

Big Bend National Park is truly a magical location that everyone should visit once in a lifetime.
