Hola everyone,
Another month in quarantine has passed and what a better time to catch up on some movies, right? I love indie films and I had a huge list of films that I wanted to watch, so this last month I’ve been enjoying some good ones I would like to share with you.
The Florida Project. 2017
Director: Sean Baker
Starring: Willem Dafoe, Brooklynn Prince, Bria Vinaite, Valeria Cotto, Christopher Rivera, Caleb Landry Jones
I came across this movie almost by accident, and now it has become one of my favorite ones. It is an American slice-of-life drama film that goes around a six-year-old girl living with her single young mother -in not the best conditions- in a motel in Florida. The high contrast with the nearby Walt Disney World, the truth and reality of this story, make this movie a really interesting piece to watch.
God’s Own Country. 2017
Director: Francis Lee
Starring: Willem Dafoe, Brooklynn Prince, Bria Vinaite, Valeria Cotto, Christopher Rivera, Caleb Landry Jones
I think this is an emotional and moving British love drama between a young sheep farmer whose life is transformed by a Romanian migrant worker. In my opinion, this movie is about giving yourself over to love even when it seems there is no hope.
Swallow. 2019.
Director: Carlo Mirabella-Davis
Starring: Haley Bennett, Austin Stowell, Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche, Denis O’Hare
This is a really interesting movie, I don’t want to tell you much about it so you can enjoy it, but I would just say that this phycological thriller had me glued to the screen the entire movie. A young woman who, stuck in her marriage and domestic life, develops an impulse to eat inedible objects.
Please, send me recommendations! I would love to keep adding good films to my list!
