Halfway in

Already half of the course done! It’s amazing how fast time flies in new places.

This month has been very enriching in my discovery of the job. First, I had the opportunity to visit a site at the very beginning of the project. Seeing how my colleagues analyzed the elements of the site, seeing what was important and taking the necessary pictures. Moreover, these interactions with clients are always very enriching!

Secondly, I took part in the last straight line before handing over our file to the contractors, last corrections, last redlines. It is really important to put the right elements in value in order to avoid any misunderstanding and end up in an embarrassing situation.

And finally I visited some showrooms for the first time as an architect. It was always something I didn’t like to do as a child with my parents. But now I love it! Seeing all the different marbles available for surfaces, the various holds for drawers. These are just some of the little details that make up the charm of the project!

Now this month I had the occasion to go skiing upstate – at Hunter’s Mountain to be exact. My friends and I were unfortunate enough to have chosen the coldest weekend of the season. Coming from Switzerland, it is normal (even desired!) to ski in sub-zero temperatures (°C). That said, the wind was harsh, and even if we could ski down the slopes, the chairlift ride was far from pleasant.

That doesn’t change the fact that it was a really nice weekend, and the fresh mountain air did me a lot of good!

Finally, this week is fashion week here in NYC. While the vast majority of events are invitation only, there are a few exceptions. This was the case with a designer who did his show in Brooklyn. It was a really crazy and unique experience, the atmosphere was really different and I will dream once to be able to see a show of a great designer once in the future.
