Fourth month: March

March is over, and here it is my monthly short story:

During this month so many things have happened. The most important to me was a HUGE change. After two years of work from home (for me since since I started my program back in December), Diller Scofidio + Renfro team finally came back to the office. Actually to a brand new office overlooking the Hudson River, New Jersey, Downtown and Midtown. Fun fact: from my desk, just between two buildings, you can see perfectly aligned the Chrysler Building!

The start of working from the office meant, among other things: finally knowing my team in person, introducing myself to the rest of the staff, new friendships, the beginning of group meals, fresh fruit and treats, happy hours, morning walks…

Since I have a 45 minutes long commute and New York is a once in a lifetime experience, I decided to star riding a bike. I used to ride my bike in Spain everyday and getting back to this habit has been a great decision. In spite of what you may think, New York is a very bike friendly city. It is almost flat, there are a lot of bike lines and, as the traffic is dense, the cars are not driving so fast. Instead of having my own bike I got an annual subscription to citi bike, a big network of bikes and stations along all New York. This allows me to take the subway during the morning (while I am a bit sleepy haha) and, after a day at work, go back to my apartment while enjoying some fresh air.

Since the office is by the Hudson, and I live uptown, I’m always taking the Riverside Park. It is a very diverse and pleasant park along the water that is the best way of ending a hard working day.
