Hiking in New York by train

The weather is still nice out so you should get away from the city for a day and enjoy nature! There are some good hiking plans you can do in New York State. I’ll talk about Anthony’s Nose hiking to help those who want to get there.

Difficulty: low-medium.

Time: 1.5 hours one way.
Hop on the train (Metro North) in Grand Central Station and go upstate to Manitou Station. It takes around an hour to get there and the round trip ticket is 30 dollars. Be sure to be in the left side of the train to enjoy the views!
When you get there, you’ll be in the middle of nowhere without knowing where to go. A few other people will be in the same situation. So, without crossing the train rails, you should start walking through the only possible path (more or less perpendicular to the rails) and continue without going to the right in the first bifurcation. Eventually you’ll get to Road 9D. Take right and follow it (be very careful with cars) until you see the entrance to the hiking path (at your left side). It will take you around 30-45 minutes to arrive to Anthony’s Nose‘s entrance from the train.
Now enjoy! It takes about an hour to reach the top so enjoy the hike and follow the white blazes. Going up is a bit hard!
I ate when I reached the top because the views are amazing and it is totally worth it to spend some time there.
Have fun and let me know if you have any questions!
