If you come to the United States to spend some time and you want to drive either for travelling or for daily commuting for more than the first month, you should get an American driving licence. Knowing the extenuating Spanish process, it may be scary when you first think of it, but is something completely different. You should take a written test, but the questions have to do more with common sense and less with memorizing. Driving exam is the second step, but at least in Orlando you take the exam in a closed circuit. Be careful with the stop signs!
It is highly recommended to make an online appointment in your local tax collector for both exams, some of them will only let you take the exam if you did a reservation.
