I want to share with you my Site visit experience on Nantucket.
Every week we have Site visit. In my opinion the best way to learn about Nantucket architecture is to go and see tradicional houses on this island. Here I am learning about a lot of construction characteristics, materials and wood species. I have to say that Nantucket is rich in history and tradition. The separation of Nantucket from mainland contributes to its unique character. One of the houses that impressed me was the house in downtown. Owner wanted to make some changes and in the construction process they found newspaper from 19.century in the wall. Paper changed color but it is possible to learn. Next step was to call to the Nantucket Preservation to tell about newspaper in the wall. After reviewing they decided to leave that wall how it is in the wall. For me that Site visit was very special and I took some pictures.
