Frank Gehry’s new expansion for the Colburn School in Los Angeles is set to open on September 25, 2027. The 100,000-square-foot project will include the 1,000-seat Terri and Jerry Kohl Hall, designed as an in-the-round concert space, alongside expanded facilities for music and dance education.
The building combines transparent and opaque volumes that step with the site and are wrapped in a metallic pink finish developed specifically for the project. Inside, the main hall will feature natural light, adjustable acoustic elements and a large stage designed to host orchestra, opera, dance, jazz and other large-scale performances.
