KPF reshapes Austin’s skyline with Texas’s tallest tower

KPF has completed Waterline in Austin, a 1,025-foot mixed-use skyscraper that is now the tallest building in Texas. Rising beside Lady Bird Lake, the tower combines residential, hotel and office spaces within a stepped profile that its designers compare to the shape of a cowboy boot.

Originally conceived under a different development team, the project evolved while keeping its mixed-use character at the core. Shared spaces, overlapping functions and a strong relationship with the surrounding city shape a tower designed not simply as a vertical landmark, but as a place where different ways of living and working come together.
