After spending five months completing my internship in New York, my final month arrived much faster than I expected. I wanted to make the most of my remaining time by experiencing some of the city’s most iconic attractions before returning home.
One of the highlights of my last month was attending a Broadway show. I watched Buena Vista Social Club, a musical inspired by the famous Cuban band. The performance was incredible, combining outstanding music, talented actors, and an amazing atmosphere. I also had the opportunity to visit the legendary Blue Note, one of the most famous jazz clubs in the world. Listening to live jazz in such an iconic venue was a unique experience. The musicians were exceptionally talented, and the intimate atmosphere made the evening even more memorable. It gave me a greater appreciation for New York’s rich musical culture.
Another memorable moment was the starting of the FIFA World Cup. As soon as it started, I could feel the atmosphere becoming even more vibrant in the country. Thanks to the New York Ticket Lottery, I was able to attend a world cup game! I was especially lucky because the match featured France, my home country. Being able to support the French team while living abroad was a very emotional experience.
Overall, this last month has been a very exciting month. As my internship came to an end, it was time to say goodbye to the friends I had made over the past five months. Leaving them was difficult because they had become an important part of my daily life. I also felt nostalgic about leaving Greenpoint, the Brooklyn neighborhood where I lived during my stay. Its welcoming atmosphere, local cafés, and quiet streets made it feel like home.
It is never easy to move on after such an amazing experience. But I left New York with unforgettable memories and friendships that I hope will last for many years, and I am very grateful to have been able to live all of this.
