Growing into My Role at S9
October has been a month of growth at the studio. Since my first weeks, I have become more comfortable in the office and in my daily routine. As a result, I am now contributing to several projects at S9 Architecture and Engineering.
Among them are a skyscraper in Downtown Brooklyn and a residential building in Harlem. Each project has its own scale and challenges. Overall, working on both has shown me how differently a tower and a mid-rise residential building respond to their urban context.
Weekend Escapes: Sleepy Hollow and Beacon
Outside of work, I made the most of New York’s famous fall season. One Saturday, I took a day trip to Sleepy Hollow, the town that inspired the legend and the film. Walking through its streets, I could easily see why the story still captures so many imaginations.
On another weekend, I visited Beacon to see the fall foliage. From there, I explored a town that feels especially charming in autumn, with its characteristic main street and colorful trees along the Hudson. Together, these trips gave me a welcome break from the city.
Halloween in Brooklyn and Manhattan
Halloween was another highlight of the month. During the day, I wandered around Brooklyn to watch children go trick-or-treating, a tradition I had only seen in movies before. In the evening, I joined the parade in Manhattan’s West Village.
Since then, I have kept thinking about how the whole city seems to take part in the celebration. Overall, it was a lively and unforgettable way to experience an American tradition for the first time.
