BIG Unveils Updated Visuals for the National Juneteenth Museum Before Construction Begins in Fort Worth

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has revealed new images of the National Juneteenth Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, a 72,000-square-foot cultural institution designed in collaboration with Alligood Song Architecture and KAI Enterprises. Scheduled to begin construction in fall 2026, the museum will preserve the history and legacy of Juneteenth while honoring the work of Dr. Opal Lee, known as the “Grandmother of Juneteenth.”

Located in the Historic Southside, the project is conceived as both a museum and a civic anchor for the local community. Its program includes immersive galleries, a business incubator, food hall, theater, flexible event spaces, and a central “nova star” courtyard inspired by the Juneteenth flag, with a mass timber structure and symbolic design elements referencing freedom, Texas, and national recognition.
