Frida Escobedo designs an undulating façade for a residential building in Brooklyn

Mexican architect Frida Escobedo has collaborated with DXA Studio and interior design firm Workstead on Bergen, a residential building in Brooklyn that stands out for its undulating cast concrete façade. The project stands on a former parking lot in Boerum Hill, near the Barclays Center, and houses 105 apartments spread over seven floors, organized into two residential wings connected by a large central glass-enclosed lobby.

The design of the envelope was carried out by Frida Escobedo Studio, in close collaboration with DXA Studio as landscape architects and planners, while Workstead developed interiors designed to convey calm and well-being. The building is accessed via a main entrance on Bergen Street, which leads to the common and service areas, and a small park that runs through the block and connects to Dean Street, reinforcing the relationship between architecture, public space, and the city.
