The Studio Museum in Harlem officially opens its new headquarters

The Studio Museum in Harlem will officially open its new headquarters on November 15, a building designed specifically for the public that symbolizes the union between art, community, and urban context. Located on West 125th Street in New York City, the new museum replaces the commercial structure that had housed the institution since 1982 and marks a milestone as the first time it has had a space designed specifically for its cultural program. During the preview, Thelma Golden, Raymond J. McGuire, and architects Pascale Sablan and Erin Flynn highlighted how this new headquarters reflects the museum’s mission to celebrate and amplify Black art.
