SHED Architecture & Design has transformed a historic 1927 building in Seattle into a compact two-story home, maintaining its essence while incorporating contemporary design. Originally the studio of impressionist artist Louise Crow and later a church, today it is the home of Quynh-Vy Pham, owner of the renowned Vietnamese restaurants Phở Bắc in Little Saigon.
The so-called Phở Bắc House, located in the Leschi neighborhood and surrounded by larger homes, stands out for its black exterior and an interior that pays homage to its past. The renovation expanded the floor space to 173 square meters thanks to a second floor and an additional half-level, achieving a balance between history, functionality, and modernity in the heart of Seattle.
