New residential units arranged around a central courtyard in LA

The residential units at Barrington 1503 are organized around a central courtyard that encourages interaction between residents. The Californian studio LOHA designed this project in West Los Angeles based on four connected volumes totaling more than 2,200 square meters. The result is a four-story complex with 18 apartments and 79 private rooms, complemented by common areas for cooking, eating, and relaxing.

With facades clad in carbon aluminum and raked plaster, the building responds to the need for greater density in a neighborhood with a large presence of students and new residents. According to LOHA, this community housing proposal represents a viable alternative to the city’s traditional residential models, offering a solution that combines design, functionality, and shared living.
