The Los Angeles City Council has approved 670 Mesquit, a complex designed by BIG that will transform the Arts District with four interconnected buildings for different uses. The project will include offices, nearly 900 homes, a hotel, an independent elementary school, commercial and recreational spaces, as well as green areas designed by Studio MLA.
The staggered design will allow each tower to interact with its surroundings, highlighting a 34-story building that will house offices, while the two central buildings will be used for residential purposes and the smallest will be a hotel. With balconies running along their perimeters, the complex seeks to integrate urban life with the banks of the Los Angeles River.
