Hello everyone!
A journey that began over a year ago has come to an end. I can’t believe that this year in New York is over. I am back after almost 13 months of the most life-changing experience of my life. It has been a truly challenging year from the beginning to its end.
I was glad to be able to rely on Architect-US. Especially Sonia, who helped me with the whole visa process, put me in contact with other people who were in town and gave me all the necessary information about the required paperwork. The program and having a team dedicated to support you through the visa process is making the move way easier.
On the one hand, New York is such a dynamic and vibrant city, you can never expect what is going to happen next. I had to learn to live together with the FOMO (Fearing Of Missing Out) since it is impossible to be everywhere at the same time. Everyday, at any time, there may be openings, shows, concerts, new exhibitions and much more.
On the other hand, the city can be a bit harsh at times, which made me feel grateful for things I used to take for granted in Europe.
During this chapter of my life, I have had the opportunity to meet great people, local and foreign, from whom I have learned other perspectives on life. In addition, I have been able to work in a great studio, where I have met brilliant and talented professionals, and I have visited unique and inspiring places that have completely changed my way of thinking and doing architecture.
This is just the beginning of my career as an architect and I am looking forward to discovering what comes next. It has been a really intense year, full of challenges, changes and all kinds of situations out of my comfort zone that I have had to handle. Looking back in time, I realize how much I have grown both personally and professionally. After that experience, I know I can overcome demanding situations more easily in the future.
I am happy and proud to have achieved this goal and I am truly grateful to Architect-US and ‘Fundación Arquia’ for this opportunity. I can’t wait to read the experiences of others who came with the same program as me!
