LA Diaries: My First Month of Design, Discovery, and Día de los Muertos

It’s hard to believe that I’ve already been in Los Angeles for a full month. The transition to this vibrant, sprawling city has been a whirlwind of new experiences, and I’m thrilled to be starting my next chapter here.

The biggest and most exciting news is that I’ve joined the incredible team at Bell Design Group. From day one, I’ve been welcomed with open arms and immediately felt like part of the family.

My first few weeks have been a fantastic learning experience. I’m diving deep into Archicad, getting proficient with the software, and embracing the new workflows. It’s a powerful tool, and I’m genuinely excited about the design possibilities it opens up. I am already so enthusiastic about the new projects on the horizon and can’t wait to contribute my skills to the innovative work being done here.

Of course, I haven’t just been in the office. I’ve spent my free time and weekends trying to be a proper tourist and exploring everything Los Angeles has to offer. From the coastline to the city lights, there is an energy here that is truly unique. Every neighborhood has its own distinct personality, and I feel like I’ve only just scratched the surface.

A Multicultural Halloweekend

This past weekend was the perfect snapshot of life in LA. It kicked off with Halloweekend, and I got to experience my first «American Halloween» in the most spectacular way. We went to the famous West Hollywood Halloween Parade, and it was an incredible sight. The streets were filled with stages with concerts and all the people were in amazing, creative costumes. After the parade, I also went to a fun party with my new friends.

But the celebrations didn’t stop on October 31st. What truly amazed me was how the city transitioned to celebrate Día de los Muertos on November 1st. Los Angeles is one of the most multicultural places I’ve ever been, and many of my new friends here are from Mexico and other parts of Latin America. It was an honor to share in their traditions and celebrate the lives of those who have passed. It was a powerful reminder of the rich, diverse cultural tapestry that makes this city so special.

And to top off an already incredible weekend, on Sunday I went to a concert to see Quevedo. Seeing the Spanish artist perform here in LA as part of his US tour was the perfect way to end the celebrations.

My first month has been better than I could have imagined. I’m inspired by the work at Bell Design Group, energized by the city, and so grateful for the welcoming community I’ve found.

I can’t wait to see what November brings!
