A concrete jungle in Japan

Akihisa Hirata has designed a M.C. Escher-like residential building in Tokyo. The concrete building has asymmetrical window boxes that looks folded and lots of plants in the terrace for greenery.

The building is a contrast to the typical buildings that simply stack floors one on top of the other. The architect said: «the design seeks to develop this new architectural principle, with the intention of creating a complex ecosystem connected to the city».
