KieranTimberlake receives restoration award

An Architect-US participant, Rebecca Lou, knows this building pretty well, because she’s doing her training there!

KieranTimberlake‘s studio at 841 North American Street in Philadelphia has been granted with a Grand Jury Award by The Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia that recognizes projects that contribute to the Philadelphia’s character and architectural identity through rehabilitation. restoration, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings.

KieranTimberlake was honored for the transformation of the former Ortlieb’s Brewing Company’s Bottling House that was finished in 2015 and became its current studio. Built in 1948 and designed by Richard Koelle the factory is a mixture of the International style with Philadelphia’s traditional brick palette. In 2012, KieranTimberlake began searching for a new studio and this factory offered the firm the chance to make an ambitious experiment: transform an industrial building in a comfortable working environment using as little energy as possible.

We already told her story, and how she met KieranTimberlake at the American Institute of Architects 2016 National Convention after winning  an International Competition hosted by Architect-US for the Design and Construction of the program’s booth in this article.
