About three hours away from Portland, Seattle is always good idea for the weekends. To me, the city is a mix of Portland weather and small business restaurants with San Francisco landscapes and bay area.
The Seattle Central Library is a must see. Opened in 2002 the project by OMA provides an amazing space for all types of literature and technology. The variety of atmospheres and spaces within the same building is what most caught my attention. The change in scale, height of floors and its envelope structure makes it a unique experience. The building is widely used by the population, specially hosting people during cold days.
Other areas as Nob Hill, Pike Market and the Chapel of St. Ignatius by Steve Holl are also great spots to see.
