So what are “lunch & learns”?
Its given name is actually very self explanatory: a vendor or an expert on some field visits the company to provide information about their product in a lecture format and at the same time everybody is invited to enjoy of a free buffet lunch while listening to them and therefore learning.
In HOK lunch & learn(s) take place every Wednesday. Each week a different topic is covered, from new materials to the last sustainability trends to address the US codes. Most of them are very interesting since they condensed and summarize lot of information within less than an hour. Worst case scenario, when the speaker is not very encouraging or enthusiastic it might be a little boring, but at least you got a full meal for free!
So far, I have found them a very good way to keep updated with the latest releases of materials or technology improvements, especially in a world that keep changing everyday.
