Architecture and landscape in harmony at Auteur Wines’ new tasting room in California

A limestone wall runs along the main façade of the tasting room at Auteur Wines in Sonoma, designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson to reinforce a direct connection between architecture and landscape. The project, located on the outskirts of Healdsburg, is nestled in the Russian River Valley, a setting characterized by vineyards, redwood trees, and a temperate climate that defines the experience of the place.

The new facility, named Auteur Russian River, responds to the winery’s growth after outgrowing its original space in the city of Sonoma. Set on an eight-acre plot previously used for hop cultivation, the design expands the scale without losing its intimate character, prioritizing a tasting experience that is more open, flexible, and connected to the land.
