Experiencing a West Coast Internship
My West Coast Internship experience
During my second month in San Diego, my West Coast internship experience became much more complete. I started to feel more settled and comfortable with my routine. Instead of focusing only on adapting, this month was more about enjoying the experience and making the most of living in California.
This month allowed me to discover more of San Diego, travel along the coast, and understand better what makes California such a unique place to live during an international internship.
Discovering the West Coast lifestyle
Living in San Diego has allowed me to experience the West Coast lifestyle more closely. I spent time visiting places like La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and Coronado, each with its own atmosphere. From relaxed coastal walks to more social beach areas, every place offered something different.
One of the best parts has been how easy it is to enjoy simple plans, like watching the sunset, walking by the ocean, or spending time outside after work. San Diego has a very relaxed lifestyle, and that has made this month especially enjoyable.
This West Coast internship experience has helped me understand that living abroad is not only about professional growth, but also about discovering a new lifestyle and learning from everyday experiences.
A road trip along the West Coast
One of the highlights of this month was a road trip along the West Coast that I will never forget. I had the opportunity to travel by car all the way up to San Francisco, and it was honestly one of the best trips of my life. I had never seen landscapes like that before.
Driving along the Pacific Coast Highway was an incredible experience. The views of the ocean, the cliffs, and the small coastal towns made every part of the journey special. It was not just about the destination, but about the entire route. Every stop felt unique, and the scenery constantly changed in a way that made the trip feel almost unreal.
Arriving in San Francisco was also amazing. The city has a completely different vibe compared to San Diego, with its iconic landmarks, steep streets, and unique atmosphere. Walking around the city, seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, and exploring different neighborhoods made the experience even more memorable. Also, I wish I could have gone to Alcatraz, but it was fully booked! The following link is to get your tickets to visit the prison, I recommend getting them with time so it isn´t fully booked when you want to go!

This trip really showed me how beautiful the West Coast is. It is something I would recommend to anyone coming to California. If you have the chance to do a road trip, do it. It is one of the best ways to truly experience the diversity and beauty of this part of the country.
Enyoing my West Coast internship
At work, my second month has also been very positive. I have continued learning and becoming more comfortable with the projects I am involved in. As I understand more about the company’s work, I am enjoying the internship even more.
One thing I especially like is that I am able to see how technical knowledge can be applied in a real business context. The projects I work on are helping me connect data analysis, market understanding, and strategic decision-making. This has made the internship very valuable because I am not only learning new concepts, but also seeing how they are used in practice.
I also feel that I am becoming more independent. During this month, I have had more confidence when working on tasks, asking questions, and contributing to the team. This has been one of the most rewarding parts of the experience so far.
A West Coast internship experience is a great opportunity to grow professionally, but also to become more independent, open-minded, and confident.
In a nutshell
Overall, this second month has been about enjoying the experience more fully. I have continued growing professionally while also discovering new places and making the most of life in California.
