Hello everyone!
December has been a month filled with learning, new experiences, and the magic of the holiday season in Boston. At Fogarty Finger, I continued deepening my understanding of the studio’s approach, while outside of work I enjoyed my first American Christmas traditions.
At the office, my training began with an introduction to Fogarty Finger’s design philosophy, project approach, and office standards. It has been inspiring to see how the firm creates thoughtful, elegant architecture through a balance of clarity, creativity, and precision. Understanding these foundations has helped me appreciate the intention behind every line, material, and diagram.
I have been shadowing senior architects, observing how projects are initiated and how the earliest ideas take shape. From research and conceptual studies to site analysis, these first steps reveal how each project is built on a strong conceptual base. Little by little, I have been supporting these early-stage tasks and becoming familiar with the office’s digital and physical tools for idea generation and presentation. As a result, I’m steadily improving my skills in conceptual design, visualization, and communication while learning the workflows and protocols that structure the studio’s daily operations.
December also brought great cultural experiences. I visited the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, each one offering a different perspective on art, design, and storytelling. These visits have given me fresh inspiration and a richer understanding of Boston’s creative landscape.
Outside of work, I fully experienced my first Christmas season in the U.S. Boston transforms during December—streets are decorated, store windows glow, and parks like the Boston Common and the Public Garden light up beautifully. Seeing the Christmas tree lighting and walking through the festive atmosphere made the whole city feel warm, even in the cold.
At the office, we also had a pizza-making class as a holiday team-building event. It was a fun way to connect with colleagues, laugh, and enjoy a b reak from the fast pace of the studio. Moments like these have helped me feel even more integrated into the team.
Between work, culture, and celebrations, December has been a month of growth and connection. I’m learning every day—whether it’s about American traditions, architectural processes, or simply how it feels to build a life in a new city. With the holidays approaching, I’m excited for everything the next year will bring.
