Ten Months Later: How Los Angeles Taught Me to Start Again

A new rhythm in Los Angeles

It’s hard to believe that ten months have already passed since I arrived in Los Angeles through the Architect-US Program. What began as a leap into the unknown now feels like a natural part of my everyday life — a mix of challenges, learning, and small victories that remind me how much I’ve grown.

At this stage, things feel different. The uncertainty of the first months has turned into a sense of belonging. I’ve learned the rhythm of the city, its constant energy, and its unique way of moving. Los Angeles isn’t just a place to live; it’s a place that constantly teaches you something about yourself.

Working at SENER Los Angeles continues to be an incredible experience. Every project has pushed me to step outside my comfort zone, to collaborate across disciplines, cultures, and time zones. I’ve discovered that architecture here is not only about designing spaces — it’s also about designing processes, relationships, and new ways of working together.

Of course, living abroad isn’t always easy. There are days when I miss my country, my language, and the small details that make home feel like home. But those moments have also taught me to be grateful. They’ve reminded me that home is not a fixed place — it’s something you build wherever you go, through connection, purpose, and love.

Reflections after ten months

Looking back, I realize that this journey has been much more than professional growth — it has been a personal transformation. I’ve learned to trust the process, to be patient, and to embrace the unknown. As a result, every challenge has become a teacher in disguise, showing me that growth happens when we let go of control and step forward with courage.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after these ten months in Los Angeles, it’s this: growth rarely feels comfortable, but it’s always worth it.
